Head for Pont-du-Château, a former river port on the banks of the River Allier, just a 15-minute drive from Clermont-Ferrand. This walk will take you as far as Lempdes, just a stone's throw from the Puys de Bane and Anzelle.
The trail winds its way along the Allier, through the heart of the countryside. You'll enjoy lovely views of Pont-du-Château castle. This route is part of the GR89 "Chemin de Montaigne".

This walk starts at the Cournon-d'Auvergne lake, a 20-minute drive from Clermont-Ferrand. The Falaise de Malmouche is the highest cliff in the Val d'Allier between Brioude and the confluence with the Loire (15 to 20 metres). Follow the Allier as far as the Pont de Daller, built at the end of the 19th century.
For the return journey, continue along the left bank of the Allier: you'll pass the old Colombier mine (limestone) and the power station that manages the water supplied to Clermont-Ferrand.

The Chaudefour Valley is one of the most beautiful and secret valleys in the Auvergne! This National Nature Reserve is one of the three glacial valleys of the Sancy. You'll need to park your car at the Maison de la Réserve Naturelle de Chaudefour car park, a 50-minute drive from Clermont-Ferrand.
Along the way, you'll discover a number of natural features: the La Pérouse waterfall, the Saint-Anne spring, the Chaudefour glacial cirque, the Biche waterfall and the Moine waterfall.
